There’s something about the sea that quiets the soul.
The sound of waves gently meeting the shore, the breeze off the water, the steady rhythm of creation moving just as God designed — it invites us to breathe deeper, to pause, and to remember who holds all things together.
When I was painting this piece, I kept thinking about Nehemiah 8:10:
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”
It’s a verse I’ve returned to time and again, especially in moments when I feel stretched thin or uncertain. It reminds me that joy doesn’t have to come from how things are going. It comes from who God is — and that’s unchanging.
In this artwork, I painted the cliffs standing tall on the left, a picture of God's steadfastness. The sea rolls in gently from the right, full of life and movement — like the Spirit’s presence, always near, always moving, always refreshing. And in the middle of it all is a sense of calm and strength, both quiet and unshakable.
This beach scene is meant to be more than just something pretty to hang on the wall. It’s a reminder. A whisper to your heart:
Even when you’re tired.
Even when the path is steep.
Even when joy feels far away —
God’s joy is available to you, and it’s your strength.
