There's something sacred about the morning, isn't there? That quiet space before the day fills up with demands and decisions. It's in these early moments that Psalm 143:8 invites us to pause and pray: "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love."
This verse has become one of my favourite morning prayers. It acknowledges something we all know deep down - that we need God's guidance for the day ahead. We don't always know which way to go, which decision to make, which path to choose. But we know who does.
I love the structure of this prayer. It starts with a request to hear of God's unfailing love - not just any love, but love that doesn't waver or fail. Then it moves to trust: "for I have put my trust in you." There's vulnerability in that admission. We're saying we can't do this alone, that we need His wisdom more than our own.
The second part of the verse becomes even more specific: "Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life." It's not just asking for general guidance - it's about the actual decisions and directions we face today. And it ends with complete surrender, entrusting not just our morning or our day, but our entire life to Him.
The countryside landscape in this print feels like a fitting companion to these words. There's something about natural spaces - meadows, trees, the gentle presence of a farmhouse in the distance - that invites us to slow down and remember we're part of something bigger. Creation itself testifies to God's faithful care.
If you're facing decisions, transitions, or simply the uncertainty of a new day, may this verse encourage you. God's love is unfailing. He delights in showing us the way. And when we entrust our lives to Him each morning, we can walk through the day with confidence - not in ourselves, but in His perfect guidance.
Let the morning bring you word of His unfailing love today.
