There’s a verse I find myself returning to again and again, especially on the days when life feels a little uncertain. Joshua 1:9 has a way of grounding me, reminding me that courage isn’t something I have to muster up on my own — it’s something God grows in me as I walk with Him. When I was creating this lion artwork, I found myself thinking about the quiet strength God offers, the kind that doesn’t always roar but stands steady and sure.
The loose watercolour style of the lion felt like the right choice, allowing the piece to feel both bold and gentle at the same time. I wanted it to speak courage, but also comfort. So many of us carry silent battles, and there’s something about the pairing of Scripture with imagery that helps truth settle more deeply into our hearts.
This print is a reminder that even when we feel unsure, God has already gone ahead of us. He doesn’t ask us to be fearless in our own strength; He asks us to trust that He is with us. And that changes everything. Whether this verse is new to someone or has been a lifelong anchor, my hope is that this artwork brings a moment of peace and reassurance each time they pass it by.
I love imagining it hanging in a hallway, a study, or a prayer space — becoming part of the gentle rhythm of someone’s day. If it encourages even one person to lift their head and breathe a little easier, then creating it has been worth every brushstroke. May it remind you, as it reminds me, that courage grows in the presence of God.
